I haven't been on here for several years. I need to lose weight badly. I am up to 127 and can't get into any of my clothes. I have been having a protein shake for lunch. It is composed of one scoop of organic chocolate protein powder, one cup of dark chocolate almond milk, a banana and ice. My son told me the other day that protein power causes weight gain. I'd like to know if anyone else has any opinions on this.

Don't listen to your son. And secondly, you are making a good decision. Increasing protein consumption during weight loss is a great thing. It helps maintain muscle mass (which means you will be leaner), it helps maintain metabolism, it increase satiety (fuller longer) and takes more energy to digest as compared to any other nutrient (slight increase in energy output).
