When you start marking down EVERYTHING you eat you realize you are what you eat. My main purpose in using My Fitness Pal was due to the fact I've had 4 kidney stones over the past 20 years. One in 1998 and three in the last two years. This last one had to be surgically removed. I now have a urologist who said to watch your salt intake. I'm on 1700 cal a day diet and I like the fact it measures calories, carbs, protein and salt. I'm allowed 2000 mg of salt per day and I was totally amazed at the salt content of everything I ate. Everything in a can I gave to the local food drive. 1000 mg of sodium in a can of soup and I discovered it isn't just stuff in a can. Everything has salt in it. I did find a no salt bread and read the labels on everything I cook. I realize salt makes foot taste good. But, too much is bad. I drink a lot more water. No pop. Not a coffee drinker and its amazing how good plain water makes me feel and not thirsty later. I was concerned mainly with the sodium intake and its helping me make better food choices to lose the 15 lbs I targeted. Been tracking my food intake for a month and when I shop I'm a lot smarter now. Hoping to get down to 180 by Xmas.

Kidney stones are rough! My brother and a friend have suffered with it. I also like being much more aware of food using MFP. Keep hydrated!0
