Bruise near eye after exercise

Last night after doing my Insanity workout video (which I’ve done many, many times before), I washed my face and noticed a painful bruise near my eye. It’s on the outer corner, and is red with a deep purple outer edge. My mom said it’s a burst blood vessel from exercise. I’ve never had something like this before. Everything I read talks about burst blood vessel IN the eye, not outside it. I just want to know if this has happened to anyone else and I’m not dying haha

I bust small capillaries under my eyes quite frequently when working out near my maximal range. It comes from straining/holding your breath/valsalva maneuver. It doesn't usually happen when deadlifting even though I'm holding my breath and performing a valsalva maneuver, but it does usually happen when I'm practicing back levers because I start off upside down and the blood has rushed to my head. Happened all over my face during childbirth. I've never had it look like a bruise however. It's just tiny red dots.
It's probably a good idea to back off a bit if you are straining that hard. I'm trying to be more aware of it in my own workouts and remembering to breathe.2 -
Huh, I've had these before. I've always assumed I've just been headbutted at judo at some point. Never occurred to me that it might actually be workout related.
Anyway, I've normally found it goes away after a day or two. It'll be mildly painful every time you think about it and blink, but soon you'll forget that it's there.1 -
I’ve done it sneezing. Go big I say!3
