NSV: Huge race improvement

Last year, I ran a 3.7 mile race in ~36 min. It’s a hilly course and I felt like death at the end. Underprepared, definitely not in running shape. I think I placed something like 750/1100-ish.

I just ran the same race...shaved 4 minutes and more than 500 places off! I got 14th in my age division and 216 overall. And I finished second on my team, which won fastest female team overall!

Pretty excited, I’ve been really focusing on getting faster and building a better base and it’s great to see it paying off.

That's so great!! I'm hoping to follow in your foot steps this coming spring - man it's hard to stick it out and build that base, so I greatly admire how hard you worked and how well it paid off for you.

Thanks! And you can do it! I started training for this kind of late...just 3.5 weeks out, and I hadn’t run much in summer. The hardest part for me is just slowing down and building good aerobic mileage. I stuck to 2 base runs, 1-2 speed/hill workouts, and 1 long run each week and I’m amazed how much faster I progressed than in the past, when I’d just plan to run 4-5 days until I got bored. =)
