Healthy apple pie
Cut an apple in small pieces and sprinkle them with cinnamon, you can either put them in the oven or put them in the microwave and heat them up until they are soft, then chop some walnuts and sprinkle them on top finish it with some whipped cream and it is delicious!

That's a baked apple, not a pie. But it is good.13

Could probably use protein pancake mix as the "crust".0

Well I do this in the microwave without the walnuts but it's nothing like apple pie lol0

grind up the walnuts and mix in a bit of coconut oil and you'll get something a lot closer to a crust2

Then it's apple pancakes.3 -

My idea of a healthy apple pie: make your pie like normal then top it with a thick slice of sharp cheddar cheese. The extra protein is good for you. Remember, apple pie without cheese is like a kiss without a squeeze (as quoted by my father every fall when Mom was baking pies almost every week).3

Serious?
You go to a restaurant sit down and order a new york strip steak. They bring you a grilled chicken breast. Same thing no?
That’s different. Usually these alternatives are for homemade.1 -
it's still an alternative no matter where you are
nice cream is not nice imho
baked apples are nice. especially with salted caramel and vanilla ice cream0 -

Why? Meat is meat no?
Frozen banana puree is the same as ice cream.... according to you.
According to me nothing... I said it’s an alternative, not that it’s the same.1 -
Duckduckgo says that shirataki pie crust is a thing. Perhaps some enterprising baker wants to try making a shirataki apple pie.0

I just got a bunch of huge apples and was planning on baking one tonight. I like to top it with a mixture of brown sugar, butter, and some rolled oats. OP mentioned cinnamon, and now I'm wanting to add that and a couple raisins. Now I'm wishing I had a different flavour of ice cream. I only have cherry at the moment.0 -
I'm not gonna lie, I was cautiously hoping it'd be an actual pie recipe. Not a baked apples with walnuts. I do like baked apples, but if I want pie I don't think baked apples. This is actually far different to me than the "maple syrup vs mrs butterworths" discussion from yesterday/today. With the syrup one of them at least kind of resembles the other, whereas with this that isn't the case.0 -

Obviously it’s not a real pie but still at least for me the chopped up apples and cinnamon gives me that taste of an apple pie considering an apple pie is mostly the apple filling anyway.0 -
Well, I have seen lighter pie crust recipes floating around but haven't been brave enough to try them. You shouldn't mess with perfect, in my opinion. This baked apple may not be as low in calories as you would expect because walnuts and cream are high in calories, so it's easy to save those calories plus a hundred or two more and go for a slice of real apple pie. They're surprisingly affordable calorie-wise.4

I made a lower calorie apple tart - you just use a bottom crust, then put unsweetened applesauce and apples on top. It's a lot like we do it in France really... you don't have the extra calories added from the extra sugar with the apples and of the top crust, and it's still tasty. I think a slice was 200ish calories or something...3

Interesting...I might try this this week or next weekend. Given how much I make apple sauce and how little sugar I put in it I can see not needing to add any sugar to the filling/topping.0
