Yes, I know exactally what you mean. I can do good all day. When evening comes, look out. I just want to snack .I recently purchased some healthier snacks, so I am trying to make better choices. There is nothing wrong with snacking after dinner, but I am trying to pick the healthier ones. Don’t give up, just try to do better the next day. You can do this. 😊

Are you restricting yourself too much during the day? Do you need to save some calories for a little treat in the evening, so you have something to look forward to?

If you're trying to do this on 1,200 calories a day or something, in the hope of getting the weight off quickly, you might benefit from reevaluating a bit and allowing yourself more calories and a slower rate of loss so that it's more sustainable for you.

when I first started my weight loss this year.. I had trouble the first few nights. I told myself..why waste all the friggin hard work I did all day long to just blow it! I pushed through a few nights.. then it seemed easy.

You have to break the pattern. Hang strong!

I'll also add.. I eat five to six times a day.. and the sixth time is a nighttime snack of two ounces of protein and 1/2 cup of fruit. That was always my crutch.. or go to if I wanted to eat at 10 or 11. I rarely do it now.. but did lean on that as I lost the bulk of my weight.

Hell yes! Story of my life! Same scenario with me: do great all day then binge at night. Finally things came to a head recently and I had to get to the bottom of why this kept on happening to me. It turns out I wasn't getting nearly enough protein. So I really upped my protein intake and wouldn't you know it solved the problem. Increasing your protein intake may be something to consider. When cravings hit, it means your body isn't getting enough of a nutrient. It could also be not enough sleep, too. And make sure you are getting enough water in.

The other thing is, it could be force of habit. That was also another part of the issue for me: for YEARS I would get home from work and eat something unhealthy, which wired my brain to do this even long after I began my weight loss journey. So I gave myself a mini-challenge: for one week, I won't eat anything after 8pm. This combined with the increase in protein solved the problem. Pretty soon my late-night snack cravings went away and now I don't dare eat after 8pm because it will disrupt my sleep pattern.

    Yes! I feel your pain!
Wine and beer are my downfall
I think the answer is a big hearty, healthy breakfast, a healthy but smaller lunch and a light evening meal.....and no wine or beer 😟

I was raised with having a snack in the evening and still at 50 years old believe I need one. A few months ago I decided to skip breakfast most days to allow me to have enough calories to still have a snack in the evening. Something I just recently found out is that I have to have the snack I really want or I'll keep eating until I find whatever it was I was wanting to begin with. So now I keep my favourite snack on hand all the time.

Absolutely. One free meal turns into one free weeks turns into one free month turns into 5 free years.
