It is about making disciplined choices.
When eating, you need to decide between what you want most (a healthy body fat percentage) and what you want at that moment (a food in front of you).

    1) Track everything you eat in MFP
    2) Eat 250 - 500 calories less than that* if you are not at the weight you want to be
    3) Get in a bit of exercise when you can, ideally at least 3 hours per week - because it is good for you and can improve your quality of life
    4) Repeat as needed for as many months or years as necessary

    * or more than that if you are trying to gain weight or bulk

Not sure what you are doing now, so if that list of 4 steps seems like a lot, start with #1. Track everything you eat in MFP. Then at the end of the day, spend a few minutes looking back at your day. If you overate, what was going on? Stressful situation? Did you overeat a particular food you find heard to eat in moderation? Then you can figure out strategies to deal with things.
