I'm not sure that's valid - multiple studies have found that digital thermometers used by hospitals are very inaccurate, yet they are still used almost universally.
You are 100% correct.
Digital thermometers are very inaccurate.
Some are off by several degrees.
The temporal thermometers are by far the worst.
