How can you really stop compulsive eating and all that sweet craving? I started the day okay and by night I managed to destroy everything I've been doing... 😔

A couple of general suggestions:
- Make sure you aren't trying to lose weight too fast and have set an unnecessarily low calorie goal. Underfueling in general can lead to tough to avoid cravings.
- Are you cutting out all your fave treats and then giving in at night? Many of us find that planning for a small treat every day keeps us from obsessing over foods we might otherwise miss.
- Get in the habit of pre-logging everything. If you want to eat something, get out your phone, walk over to the food scale, weigh out your portion, and log it. Then eat it. In general, I found prelogging and planning the days meals and saving calories for a snack or two really helped.
- If your unplanned eating is stress/emotional eating, brainstorm other things you can do to self soothe and leave yourself reminders in strategic places to use these "not food" strategies.
- If your unplanned eating is boredom, make a to-do list, surround yourself with books, pick a hobby you can easily do in these situations, take a walk!

The nice thing about calories in- calories out is, if you get a sudden craving for something and it will put you over the edge, figure out how many calories it will be and workout to burn enough.
Also, you can find easy fast ways to alter the calories in an item with small substitutions (Greek yogurt instead of sour cream, coconut milk instead of cows milk etc) little changes can make just enough room to give you another snack. 👌👌 also remember, foods high in protein and fiber will make you feel fuller longer. Try opting for high protein things like eggs. The hard thing about this journey is, we have to resist too much food, but we need food to survive as a human. So the only way to win is to master balance.
Fun ideas- sunflower seeds in shells and popcorn are good “munch for a long time “ type foods but shouldn’t put you over the edge.3 -
I hear you on the late night snack attacks and having a wicked sweet tooth. It happens. Sometimes there's just days where you need something sweet. Don't beat yourself up over it. And if you find you are craving sweets too often or binge-eating frequently, check your nutrients to make sure you don't have a deficiency. I used to binge eat sweets and carbs a lot late at night because I wasn't getting enough protein. So upping your protein intake might be something to look into.0

Last night I brought home a carrot cake bar with lots of cream cheese frosting from a local bakery. We had them at work and my intention was to bring it home for my family to enjoy, however i inhaled it after i was so GOOD with my calories. I think the only reason I ate it was because it was there and i didn't want it to go to waste.2

I do keto for migraine control, it has definitely helped with the sweets cravings too.3

What do you mean by compulsive eating?
I think in terms of urges and cravings.
Urges I resist. I didn’t plan on eating a donut today. I wasn’t even thinking about donuts. But here they are at work and now I want one. I resist that be any means possible.
Cravings I try to manage. Now it’s 3 days later and I’m still thinking about donuts. Better work it into my plan. Maybe buy 1 at the donut shop and throw away half before I start on the piece I can fit in my plan.
I made GW by fighting my sweet tooth to a draw. I didn’t beat it.0 -
Eventually, yes the cravings do go away. I started with keto (yes a fad but it truly does control my appetite). I know keto isn't realistic for me long term so about 2 months ago I decided to try my best to just stay away from high carb food and stay below my calorie allotment. I've been focused on my diet for almost 6 months and I feel like I am almost in complete control now. It is WAY easier for me to make the right choice when it comes to food selection now. I guess I'm just used to it.
The other day I was conscious of 3 particularly good choices I made. To lose weight I find I have to make a gazillion good choices. 1. I was out of town and really really wanted a latte. We're talking full fat milk, full whip, sugar syrup. I decided not to get one. 2. I was going to be rushed to make dinner for my kids so though I would just get a pizza. I decided to make real food and pizza wouldn't have been good for my kids either. 3. I wanted ice cream while waiting at my kids hockey practice. I decided I didn't need anything.
Oh and sweet stuff tastes WAY too sweet now. But chips, well those will always be delicious to me.0
