Struggling and need advice?

Hiya everyone

So I've lost 35lb this year and still have another 40 or so to go. I'm really struggling with eating and have been for the past few months.

Any tips or recipes?

    Could you elaborate?

Are you hungry? Not hungry? Not liking what you are eating?

    Struggling how, exactly?

35lbs in, what, 38ish weeks? That's pretty much perfect.

If you could expand more please? It sounds like you are doing great already.

Why are you struggling with what you are eating? have you cut out certain foods? if so, there's no need to do that. Losing weight is all about eating less calories than we burn. If we are consistently in calorie deficit, we lose.

There is a food and nutrition section in the forums, lots of ideas there for recipes.

    Hi.

First, Congratulations on getting as far as you have. You are doing great, and keep it up!

Now, I understand the struggle. I have struggled for years. However, since last August, I really buckled down and made the commitment. I joined here in April, and have had about the same goals as you. I have about 36 lbs to go. What specifically are you struggling with?

What is your daily caloric goal? That would be first. How much weight per week is your setting?

As for recipes, I can definitely help there, but there also is a board here with tons of recipes you can look at that may help. My one suggestion for low calorie bulk currently is shiritake noodles. It's a good substitute for pasta and (currently) does not have any known negative issues. It stinks if you get the wet (refrigerator) kind, but rinse, cook, and add your favorite sauce. It has a slightly different texture, but works well and doesn't taste bad. A serving is between 5 and 10 calories. I do a double serving (a whole 7 oz pack) and that's only 20 calories. It's an easy way to get bulk in your stomach for low calories.

Let me know what type of recipes you are interested in (Meat, Veggie, eggplant, apple, etc....) and I'll see if I can pull a couple together. A lot of what I make is by the seat of my pants, but I do have a huge collection. Some on the web, some personal.

35lbs must be the magic number lol I have just started a Healthy Wage Challenge to try and incentivise myself to shift the next 30lbs. I've been maintaining a 35lb loss for about a year and just haven't really pushed myself to lose the rest, although I've continued to improve my fitness and strength.

Have you taken a diet break and just focused on maintaining for a few weeks before adjusting to a slightly slower rate of loss, as you get closer to goal you are better off slowing down, so if you were previously set at 1.5-2lb loss per week, take a few weeks just at maintenance and then switch down to 1lb per week and see how you get on.

You know, I just realized.... After I did "The Biggest Loser" at work, I hit the wall at around 35 lbs as well for a month.

Maybe it's time to take a diet break? There's a great thread you should go read. Its title is "diet breaks and refeeds" or something along that line. Maybe someone will link it.

Here's a couple recipes. I modified the falafel to baking.

https://www.indianhealthyrecipes.com/falafel-recipe-chickpea-falafel/ (178 Calories if you make 8 patties)
note: Mine was dry the first time, but I messed up. Did get it to work. You may need to play with it.

    https://www.clairejustineoxox.com/2012/01/greek-vegtable-terrine.html (160 calories, split into 8 pieces)
note: came out runny my first try. Again, I think it was an error on my part with not properly draining the beans.

http://www.everylastbite.com/2014/07/24/eggplant-caponata/ (82 calories per serving - double for a meal)
note: if you like rattatouie, I think you will love this

    https://omgfood.com/one-pot-greek-eggplant-and-rice/ (248 calories per serving)
    note: good and easy.

    http://hostthetoast.com/cheesy-garlic-zucchini-bites/ (28 calories per bite)
note: made it as a snack to put out. worked well. I suggest 3 or 4 for a snack. I think I found them in an article here.

    http://tastyfix.com/recipe/iron-chef-chinese-chef-chen-s-mapo-tofu-food (190 Calories - 6 servings - just add rice)
note: I have been making this recipe for over 10 years. One of my favorites.

I hope you all find these helpful. Enjoy.

Take your biggest food struggle and kick the can down the road...

Think I'm not never going to eat McDonald's again, I'm just going to wait until Friday

Keep doing this and eventually you won't ever need it again...

The secret the secret the big secret is.... 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁... Small changes over time

Also don't have this goal of losing another 40lbs... Right now you're goal is an ever increasing healthier life and simply to do better than last week...

I always told myself that if I could lose just 5lbs more, I'd be that much better off (lost 180lbs)

    Best wishes

Are you possibly bored with always having to watch everything you eat. I get that way sometimes and I just have to change everything up. 35 pounds is great!!
