Hi

We have a group here on MFP and I am interested in adding a chat room to the group with a nutritionist and/or a personal trainer who could answer questions, post information or discussions, provide suggestions to our challengers, etc...

As with most everything here on MFP, this would be volunteer and is not a paid position, but you would be available to help a great group of people.

Please tag me in a post if you are interested and willing to give it a try. More than one can join.

Thanks
Steve

Is there a reason you don't want to just post your questions here...?

We have a monthly challenge group with 200 to 300 challengers each month with spreadsheets and team chat rooms (five teams). We have weekly challenges along with weekly weigh ins. I am looking for something to add to the group to help bring something new to it.

Ideally, I'd like to find someone who could post new information weekly, bi-weekly or something to that effect for the group and to be available if any of our challengers want to ask questions or seek advice. The group has been running for several years now and needs something new to give it a fresh kick.

Asking a professional for free advice......classy.

To be honest, most professionals give out some free advice as "practice development". However a trainer would have to be answering general questions (since they haven't seen the person, answering very specific questions or specific recommendations would be a problem). Also the trainer would want to be identified by name so those reading the responses that have access to the trainer could go to him/her based on their comments in a forum.

Also, a "Nutritionist" in the US at least means absolutely nothing regarding qualifications. Someone participating in the latest food related MLM scheme can call themselves a nutritionist with no training.

Sounds like a great deal for anyone other than that person volunteering their time.

No one is being forced to volunteer. No one has to volunteer. Some people enjoy what they do and want to help/share.

I admire someone who is active in his group and looks for ways to keep it interesting and thriving. :)

I love the message boards, but I also am a member of some groups with specific themes. Unfortunately, a number of them aren't active, which I find disappointing.

MFP offers message boards and groups. Some people like one or the other; some like both. Some people are actually "scared" of the message boards. I prefer the message boards. I don't do well with "challenges", but some people love them.

We don't have to agree; I'm just expressing my opinion, as have others in this thread. The OP made a polite request, which people are free to take him up on or not. I'm just surprised at the negativity.

Hope we all have a great day! :)
