32 year old male, 6'4 386 lbs.
Starting weight - 418
Current weight - 386
Goal weight - 230-250
Started intermittent fasting two weeks ago as a tool to limit my calories. If fits my afternoon work schedule quite well. Combined with cutting out processed foods and soda i am currently down 32lbs.
I do not workout, but my job contributes to roughly 20,000 to 40,000 steps a day with multiple flights of stairs and ladders that keep me active.
Just want to say i know my results are drastic for the first two weeks and i expect it to slow down soon. When you have a lot of weight to lose its a long term process of course.
Besides a large gut and big thighs, i am relatively proportionate for my weight. I have big shoulders and long legs.
I am eating between 1500 - 2000 calories a day and feeling great.
I am impressed with the people here that are making a commitment to get healthy, you are the inspiration we all need.
I am open to all suggestions and ideas to help me maintain my weight loss and my goal to get healthy! Hope to make some new friends here to keep me accountable.

Gosh, well done! 40k steps with being that heavy sounds exhausting, I bet you feel so much better when you lose some of it!
16 lbs / week is probably partly water weight, so don't be surprised if there's a rebound later on. The ballpark figure for a safe rate of loss is generally 1% a week, so nearly 4 lbs in your case.
My advice is pretty simple: log everything, be consistent, and be patient. I lost 125 lbs in a year and a half. It went by surprisingly quickly! Wishing you all the best.0 -

Thank you for the advice and encouragement! Congratulations on your weight loss, thats a great accomplishment.
You are right about the water weight, at two weeks i finally noticed an inch off my stomach.
I have been the same size/weight(418lbs) for about 8 years now. I havent gained or lost. I believe my large calorie intake at around 5000 calories a day simply maintaned my size, but also gave me the energy i needed to get through the day. Some days i am exhausted, but mostly just sore.
As i get older i know it will only get more difficult being the size i am.0 -

Why is it dangerous for someone to loose more than 1% per week? Genuine question

There are health concerns that come with under eating (losing too fast is caused by under eating). This outlines it nicely:

There are also body composition concerns. The body can only burn so much fat in a day. If it's not getting the nutrition it needs through food, some comes from fat, and some comes from lean tissues such as muscle. While some muscle loss is going to happen during weight loss, when losing too fast, a great percentage of that comes from muscle, and people end up being normal weight with a higher percentage of body fat. We have several people here who decided this didn't apply to them, and are incredibly unhappy with their results and are now trying to regain the lost muscle, which is much harder than keeping it in the first place.3
