Hi people. I'm new to this. For the past 3 weeks I have been eating very light, hungry nearly all the time. I have totally stopped my nightime eating which is a killer. I power walk at least 4 times per week for an hour, plus strength exercise reps daily. And I am not loosing even 1 pound!!! I am at the point I always get to by the third week I say frig it I'm done.
I started really measuring my calories today and I cant believe it. I switched to honey and I found out the 2 Tbsps. I use on my oatmeal is like 120 calories. Forget the margerine, another 70 calories. Whew my goodness, I feel like you cant eat ANYthing.
Sorry guys, I just need to vent somewhere and I dont want to give up again.

What are your stats? Have you set MFP to a reasonable deficit?1

you might want to try low carb, makes my appetite less. Water I drink at night so I dont snack. You can do it, if I can. I love to eat. Keep busy doing stuff in life that is healthy. Quit doing destructive stuff like overeating. You wont have to feel guilty and disappointed the next day. Log those calories.4

Most popular swaps aren't as useful as they're made out to be, it's true.
You shouldn't need to be hungry all the time to lose weight though. What is your height and weight? How many lbs per week are you looking to lose? Are you using a food scale? Are you hitting your protein, fat, and fiber goals?0 -
The best thing you can do is log and track everything. If you don't have a food scale, I would invest in one. Things like honey, butter, and other condiments are shockingly high in calorie. I try to avoid mayo, honey, anything like that. If you need your oatmeal a little sweeter, why not try going gradually lower with it, meaning instead of 2tbsp, try 1tbsp or switch to a splenda sweetener.
Make sure your calories goal are right for you. You don't NEED to lost 2lbs a week, losing 1 or 1.5 is perfectly acceptable. If that means your calories go up and you don't hate life, then its worth it.
Of course some foods are lower in calories than others. Instead of oatmeal with honey, you can try and switch to eggs and lean ham with veggies in the morning. The protein might even make you feel full longer.0 -
Lot's of fiber can help fill you up. Broccoli, mushrooms, lettuce, celery, ect...
I will cook 8oz of white mushrooms with about 5oz of onions with very light cooking spray, and Tony's Creole seasoning, in a pan to include with my protein that I have for dinner. This 13 oz of food is only about 110 calories. The weight in oz is raw I have never measured it after cooking but it fills a plate. It works to help fill me up not matter what protein I use.
Drink a full glass of water before each meal.
Your body will adjust you just have to move past week three!0 -

HEALTHY weight loss takes time. If your calories are too low for you, you will struggle. Don't try to do too much all at once.
Protein, fiber and fat are the usual satiating components, BUT it is not the same for everyone. Back in the day low fat diets were all the rage.....but I was hungry all the time. Fat is a filling component for me.
Tweak your meal times, experiment with macros (protein, fat, and carbs) - try to increase fiber. But above all, eat enough calories to be sustainable.
Really aggressive weight loss should never be a goal, it's a recipe for a higher % of lean muscle loss.1
