Moving from SL 5x5 to a 4-day split

I've done Sl 5x5 for 2 years and recently decided to try BB LIIFT4 which is a 4-day split. After always having done legs every workout (regardless of SL or any other workout), it seems a bit slacking to do legs only 1 of 4 days. This is especially concerning if I can only get in 3 sessions a week. I realize I'm doing more legs on leg day than in one day of SL, but it still feels odd.

Can someone explain the rationale behind this approach and help me understand how my legs won't lose progress?

L4 split is chest/tris, back/bis, shoulders, and legs, plus core every session.

My goals are general fitness and tri-sprints. 63 yo female.

Thanks.

Two years on a LP? Glad you made the decision to move forward onto more advanced programming :).

There is no rationale other than you chose a program that is has way less volume which is the opposite of what is needed. In turn you will lose stength and some muscle if you continue with that program as written.
