I have been using Isopure whey protein because I like the flavors they have and it mixes easier than the stuff I have had before which were just grocery store off brands....

Is isopure one of the good ones or should I be looking for something else?

what criteria are you using to determine if something is "good"?

What criteria SHOULD I be using to determine if it is good? I really know nothing about protein supplements....just that I haven't been able to modify my diet to include enough protein with actual foods. (I'm a very light eater, so already feel like I am stuffing my face just trying to eat to maintainance)

I don’t eat the stuff , and can’t help. My question was to help you clarify so others could weigh in more usefully.

I can wonder if you think it isn’t working well for you, or, is giving you unwanted side effects.

Or you just maybe are looking for more education in general on whey products.

There are tons of posts on getting more protein in from all different sources. Have you done a search and read through previous posts?

Are you allergic to any ingredients in said protein powder? Then don't use it. Is something in it not agreeable in another way? Then don't use it. Do you like the way it mixes up or is used in baking? Use it. Does it taste good? Use it. :)

I use Quest but only to mix in with cottage cheese or greek yogurt and I like the peanut butter and the chocolate milkshake flavors just fine. I'm moving on from Quest for my next tub of protein powder and will probably try the Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Extreme Milk Chocolate because it got good reviews and it's a bit cheaper than Quest.

Really, just use any protein powder that gives you a good protein bang for your calorie buck that doesn't make you sick when you use it. (And tastes good and mixes well if that's how you use it. :))

All in all I think it's good for me, I just wanted to know for my own curiosity to gain a bit of insight. Plus this tub is almost empty so wanted to know if something else was worth a shot.

Some folks look to 3rd-party testing to see "what's good"...

My number one rule is buy what you can afford. There a thousand and thousands of places you can get protein from. Some have their own labs that test it and it get it from a certain place.
If you can only afford the stuff at Walmart than thats what you should buy. I know plenty of guys who bulked up using that in college. Does it have the best absorbtion rate? No but it does the job and it's affordable.

My personal trainer recommended Isoflex because it has a very high percentage of protein per serving (per 30g serving it has 27g protein so it's not full of a lot of other fillers) and I love it. Chocolate Peanut Butter is my favorite but Chocolate and Vanilla are also quite good. Also, the container opening is designed to hold the scoop across the top of the jar (take a look at the pics on Amazon) so it's never sitting/hiding in the powder which is genius.

Have a look at the actual protein content per scoop. I was looking at one the other day and it was 46.5 grams per scoop but only 20 grams of it was protein. Leaving more than half it as "filler". Paying $60 (or more) for $20 worth of protein.
