Using Food Tracking in Times of Chaos

Does anyone else find themselves "starting again" when they feel out of control in their diet, or life? I've found that any time my life is in chaos or I feel stressed I have to track my food intake perfectly to make things feel more grounded. Maybe it's a distraction? I don't need psychoanalyzation, I know why I do this. I just wanted to see if there were other members of the community who do this.
