Not lost weight this week

Hi, I've not lost any weight this week despite being under my calorie allowance every day. Can having a cold effect this? I've not had much of an appetite, so I was expecting a decent loss this week. Was surprised to find it hadn't shifted at all.

Weight loss isn't linear. You didn't gain it all in a week, you won't lose it in a week.7

There no hard and fast rule you “will “ lose weight every week, just keep going and this will work for you and most people.2

The lbs per week is actually an average over time, not a hard and fast rule. It is extremely unlikely that you will see weight loss on the scale every week like clockwork. Bodies don't work that way, especially women. Time of the month, water weight, new exercise routines..many things can affect that number. Just keep plugging along.6

Specifically, yes, having a cold could involve a bit of inflammation, which tends to cause a bit of water retention, masking your continuing fat loss when you look at the scale.
Or maybe it's some other source of water weight: Extra sodium or carbs vs. normal (even if still a perfectly sensible amount), menstrual cycle issues if applicable, muscle repair - there are lots of possibilities. But if it's water (or extra fiber/waste still in digestive transit), it isn't fat gain, so nothing to worry about.
If you're tracking carefully, have stayed on course, and have been losing well until this, the answer is to continue to stay the course patiently. It'll sort itself out in a few days to a couple of weeks.
Like others said, weight loss isn't linear. Don't let that stress you - stress can also cause water weight retention.
