The thread linked above is good, and worth reading.

The issue with increased exercise, specifically, is that it puts additional stress on your body - in a good way - in order to build strength, improve heart effectiveness, and all that other good fitness stuff. In a way, at a microscopic level, the exercise breaks down some tissue in your body so that it can rebuild/repair it in a better, stronger form.

As part of the rebuilding/repair process, your body needs to use some extra water, tying it up in your body tissues. It's not a huge amount that you'd see glaringly obviously in one spot on your body, but can be up to a few pounds. While those repairs are going on, your body holds the extra water. If you keep working out, it won't keep adding more and more water, but it may continue to hang onto that bit as long as you keep challenging your body.

When that happens, you can be continuing to lose body fat, but the extra water weight hides it from you when you weigh yourself on the scale. With patience, your continuing fat loss will eventually be enough to show up on the scale, because your fat loss continues but the water weight doesn't keep increasing and increasing. The fat loss "catches up" and overtakes the amount of water weight.

This water retention is a good, normal healthy thing. You shouldn't try to stop it from happening, or try to get your body to get rid of it. Just be patient, and your weight loss will start showing up again. For premenopausal women, this can take up to several weeks to see on the scale, since the water weight gain associated with monthly hormonal cycles can also be causing temporary confusing results on the scale.

    Best wishes!
