Calorie goals for extra-long days?

Has anyone found a good system for adjusting calorie goals for days where you expect to be awake for an extended period of time? Due to our professional obligations, my wife and I often have 20-hour days a couple times a week. When that happens, I find it very difficult to meet my standard day calorie goal (partly because I am more active) as I am simply awake much longer.

I have been adding a few hundred calories to my goal in my head, but wanted to see if anyone else has any experience incorporating long-days into their calorie goal routine.

Thanks.

Why not just look at your calories over the week rather than the day? (If you change Calorie view in nutrition on app from daily to weekly you can keep tabs)

I would have to add a meal on those days.

It will all work out. You could just eat (say) 100 calories or so less on the other days, or take a long walk.

I roll forward instead of averaging. It works out to be averaging. When I have met the calorie goal for a day, I start logging things on the next day. It may take two or three days before nothing is logged on the next day. It makes the math easier and every day I know exactly where I am with regard to being caught up. I don't roll deficits; I always do catch up rather than creating the surplus up front. Same deal with the math - comes out the same over time.

You are burning a few more calories so if makes sense. I wouldn’t deduct it from other days Because you still need calories on those days. Add what you need for the longer day, track it, and evaluate after 4-6 weeks.

Yep, look at your weekly goal, not daily.

Hadn't even thought of looking at the weekly goal...that makes sense. Thanks!
