MyFitnessPal vs Fitbit

Which of these two do you find logging food easier, I tried both but find MyFitnessPal easier.
What are your opinions.

    MFP, hands down. I thought the Fitbit app was cumbersome.

    MyFitnessPal, but only for the fact that it has a recipe builder.

    I actually love Fitbit's database since all of the stuff (at least everything I have logged when I tried using their app for food) has an option for the serving size to be grams. However they don't have a recipe builder which complicates things when I cook meals that serve more than one person.

    I find MFP has the tools for accounting for activity level + calories too eat where as Fitbit does not.

    MFP is great for logging food, Fitbit is great for logging workouts, that’s my two differences.

    FitBit had me burning calories just sitting on the couch.

    That's because you do. You burn calories 24/7. Fitbit doesn't add your BMR to your calorie goal until it happens.

    So for example my BMR is approximately 1344. It gives me 14 calories every 15 mins to account for this. So at 6 am I will have a calorie burn of 336 calories even before I have gotten up to do anything. Why? These are the calories my body used between midnight and 6 am just to maintain body functions.

    Fitbit does account for your activity level. It accounts for exactly what it tracks you doing and bases your calorie goal to consume off of that. It's calorie goal will move up and down throughout the day as it adjusts based on what you are doing. If you say go for a run, it might up your calorie burn a couple hundred and then you get sedentary a little later it will drop it back down. If you set it to "Sedentary" it will minimize the fluctuations of the calorie goal as it will start you off calculating your deficit off of your BMR and only add calories as you actually burn them. The personalized setting it will fluctuate a bit as it is running predications based off of previously tracked data.


    Right now my Fitbit is saying I can eat 1710 calories for the day based on my activity and an estimated 2210 calorie burn by midnight (I have mine set to Sedentary, so if I do nothing the rest of the night I will burn 2210).


    If I look back at Sunday, which was my rest day, my calorie intake goal was 1632 based on my calorie burn of 2132.

    I find Fitbit adjust too much with there numbers compared to MFP.

    I find Fitbit is more efficient in tracking workouts & MFP efficient in tracking calories.
