Hi there
I have done calorie counting on and off for the last couple of years and lost various amounts of weight. My most successful weight loss was 6 stone which i lost for my wedding in 2013.
I have since had a child and well, life happens, you get stuck in a rut etc.
I haven't put all of the weight back on but most of it. My first goal is to get back to my wedding weight which was 12.10. I am currently 15.2.
My weekly weigh in day will be a Thursday. Started half way through the week so i will be counting next thursday as my first weigh in.
Wish me luck. Look forward to following your journeys and hopefully you will follow mine

Day 2 and i already failed a bit last night by not filling in my food. I'm going way over cals at lunch time and its not leaving me with enough for tea. Need to do a re-jig!
My mantra this time round is 'baby steps' so even though im not fully getting it right at the min, its a hell of a lot better than what i was doing before!
Have a great day everyone x0 -

I think being honest with yourself is a good start, what stopped you from logging it? Going way over your calories is going to have an effect whether you log them or not, at least if you log them you have the data to refer back to later.
Also going over your calorie allowance isn't a failure and it doesn't necessarily mean you won't lose weight, you just might not lose as much as expected.
Your MFP calorie allowance is:
Maintenance Intake - Deficit Required for your chosen rate of loss
For example if you chose 2lb per week loss (1 pound of fat is equivalent to 3500 calories)
2 x 3500 = 7000 calories, divided by 7 days = 1000 calorie deficit required daily for 2lbs loss per week.
So without knowing all your stats let's take a 30 year old female who is around the average height of 5'4" and your weight and was lightly active. Their maintenance intake would be around 2330. So their calorie allowance for 2lb loss per week would be 1330.
If they went over their calories one day by say 550 calories, that would still leave them in a deficit of 450 calories and theoretically maybe slow down their weight loss half a day over time.
It's not what you do one day that matters but what you do most of the time.
Also consider if you've chose the right rate of loss, a lot of people automatically shoot for 2lbs loss per week, which is the highest recommended rate of loss but that doesn't necessarily mean it's sustainable, if you aim for 1lb or 1.5lbs per week you'd still lose the weight , just at a slower pace and you might not find it so difficult to stick to.
