I’ve heard so many different things about sugar. i’ve heard that sugar makes you fat, that sugar makes you lose muscle and keep fat (when in a deficit) i’ve heard that your body can’t tell the difference between sugar from an apple and sugar from chocolate. I’m very confused! I was just wondering if anyone had much knowledge on this area and could help! Thank you so much!:)

Sugar will not cause weight gain if you maintain a calorie deficit so sugar on its own will not make you fat. However, sugar is lacking in important nutrients so eating too much will mean your body is not receiving an adequate amount of nutrition for optimum health. Also, it is not uncommon for people to eat sugar and then fill hungry again not long afterwards. This, in turn, can result in huge difficulties in staying within a calorie deficit as you are more prone to overeating.
Personally, I see nothing wrong with having sugar as part of a balanced diet. Just be aware of how your body responds and whether you are getting adequate nutrition.
