What type of workout are you doing? Strength training or just cardio? A mixture?0

Strength trainer. I have been doing this for 5 months, gaining only one pound of muscle. And losing some of that this past month. I do only 20 minutes stair master. I eat around 1400 calories. This past month I try to eat more. I gain fat only a whole pound and a half. 😞😒. I work out 3 days a week.1

I wouldn't put much faith in a digit type scanner. They are all estimates.1

Yeah, I wouldn't even use those scanners. A pound or three in one direction or another is not something over which I would get concerned.
Just keep doing the right things and you will reach your goals. I had to let go of the daily minutiae and just get on with it.0 -
I can’t see your diary but your diet could be the culprit. You want to keep protein and fat higher. Carbs do nothing structurally for muscle but carbs do keep your energy level up to be able to get through the workout. If you are trying to lose body fat you should keep carbs lower. If you are trying to build muscle you should keep carbs higher. Carbs also help with activating the mTOR pathway which helps with muscle growth and carbs also produce insulin which initiates growth in different ways. Now if you are doing something like keto then your carbs will be extremely low and you will have to activate growth in a different way. In this case, you would want to make sure you are supplementing with BCAA Leucine. It’s the only BCAA that releases insulin without ingesting carbs. Carbs are superior when trying to build muscle but if you are doing low carb then supplementing with Leucine is the next best option. Protein and fat don’t really change either way because they are used for many other things in the body no matter what your goal is. Another thing is you may not be eating enough calories of the right ratio of macros. I don’t know what your stats are but 1400 calories sound really low especially for muscle building. You could be putting yourself in a catabolic state if you aren’t eating enough calories.
Your workout program could be the problem as well. No matter if you are trying to lose fat or gain muscle, building muscle should always be a part of your goal because the more muscle you build the more calories you burn at rest. Building muscle will likely take much longer if you are trying to lose fat at the same time but it’s still possible to do with a very small calorie deficit. If you are trying to build muscle you need to stimulate hypertrophy during your weight lifting program. Whatever rep range you are doing it needs to take more than 45 seconds to complete that entire set. So for example, a set of 12 reps should take at least 4 seconds per rep to complete. Slow the reps down. Also, whatever rep range you are doing you need to lift enough weight where you are lifting to failure. If you don’t have enough weights, add bands.

I wouldn't concern yourself with that machine. As long as you are eating in a deficit that isn't too aggressive, getting adequate protein, following a progressive lifting program, you are doing what you can to help preserve muscle and lose fat. Use measurements, the mirror, progress photos and gym performance to gauge progress.2
