Hi, I've just finished week 1, returned after being away from here a while and have a stone to lost.. Set my weight loss to 0. 5lb a week but lost nothing!
I did have a couple of blips where I ate way over my calories 2 days this week so I'll have to do my best to avoid that this week and hope things are better this time next week!!!

With such a small deficit you have to be consistent over weeks and month to see a difference on the scales.
Water weight fluctuations can easily mask small losses.3 -

Thank you! I'm going to stick with it and not let it throw me off. I lost over a stone before over the course of more than I year so I know I can do it like this again.1 -

I lost 25 lbs at a half pound deficit and the scale only moved every three weeks. Pictures and measurements helped a lot.
Congrats on your progress!3 -

There’s a significant calorie counting learning curve. And a lot of calorie counting gray areas. A .5 per week goal is a great idea when paired with a long term view. All these gadgets and calculators make it seem like we can run our bodies like machines. Can’t.

Thanks! I've tried to lose this weight a couple of times over the last year but I'd forgotten that VERY slow and steady was what worked for me before. My mind is in the right place to do it finally. Good to know it can take a while for that first loss.0 -

A couple things...with a very small deficit, you have very little wiggle room for error and calorie counting is inherently error prone. On top of that, 1/2 Lb per week can easily be masked by normal body weight fluctuations...I can easily be up or down 2-3 Lbs day to day. I lost most of last years winter weight going at 1/2 Lb per week and it was difficult to really see a trend until a couple of months went by.1
