We will have to see if the results are able to be reproduced, especially without the problem noted. (My suspicion is that this may not occur, and that Ludwig was trying to achieve a particular result.) As for weight control advantages, the studies that test RL advantages over a period of time haven't found that there is one.
They certainly haven't been reproduced in studies such as this one, which showed that cutting dietary fat resulted in more body fat loss than cutting carb intake:

This study would be more relevant if it was longer term - at least two-three months. There's no room for fat adaptation with such a short time period. Or if they used already fat adapted individuals for the low carb portion.
More subjects would have been helpful too.4
