Powerlifting Newbie

I recently moved to Norway. I was doing a bit of powerlifiting in the US such as just squats and deadlifts. How do you eat, train and slowly build up weight you lift? Does what gym you pick matter? Anyone able to give advice to a newbie? Looking for friends too. Thanks!

Look into lifting programs and follow one that suits you. I Iike stronglifts 5x5. There are only five lifts and it's focus is on building strength and increasing weight each session. If that is too fast, try to add a little each week or every other week. When I'm not ready to add weight, I sometimes add a rep or set, then add weight the next workout.
I would pick a gym with a good amount of free weights, squat cages, barbells, plates, deadlift platforms. Your eating will change depending on your goals to lose, maintain or gain weight. Put your weight goal into mfp, it will set your calories and macro goals for you.1 -
Another vote for StongLifts 5x5. Its a great guided program for beginners and the videos displaying proper form can be very helpful.
