how important are rest days? are they vital or should I excercise everyday?

very important. your body needs a break.
Of course, a rest day can be active, incorporating light stretching or walking, but listen to what your body is telling you.0 -
It depends on the type of exercise you're doing, the intensity and the duration.
If you're walking and biking (or other low impact, lower intensity activities) you can do this 7 days a week, 365 days a year. On the other hand if you're running and/or weight lifting (both trigger a considerable adaptive response) recovery days are required.0 -
Rest days are very important. But if you want, you can make those days active rest days by taking walks or doing yoga.0
