Hi

Wondering if any one out there can help?

I’m new to calorie counting and I’m trying to get lean. I’m currently on 1600 calories. I work in a office so am sat down most of the day but I’m training for a marathon so run 3 days per week and got to the gym 3/4 of the other days.

Will I be creating a calorie deficit or will I just be maintaining my current weight?

Please help!

Thank you

Have you plugged your stats into MFP and told it what you want to lose in a week? That figure is before exercise.

how did you come to decide on 1600 calories?

If you eat a deficit you will loose weight. to maintain weight you would need to eat maintenance calories.

there is no magic number of calories, it depends on the person (age, height, activity level) what number of cals is deficit VS maintenance. The easiest option is to enter your info in MyFitnessPal and see what it gives you. You can use 2lb a week weight loss if you have a ton to loose but as you get closer to your goal lower that to 1.5, 1, then .5 ).

HELLO, I'm new to the community and I have a question... if I need 1700 to maintain but on weekends I go up to 2000, can I have also 2 or 3 days in the week consuming only 1500 (calorie deficit) that way I mitigate the weekend gainzzz?

You can balance your calories throughout your week however you like. Many people eat a little lower during the week and higher on the weekends. It does balance out.

Yes. Your body doesn't reset at midnight. Note that if you weigh in the day after you've had 2,000 calories, the scale may give you some disappointing news, but that can be chalked up to water weight, undigested food, whether you've used the bathroom, etc. Time of month can also impact. A single day is meaningless; pay attention to trends over time.

I inputed my data into MFP and it came with up 1540 but I’m unsure if I’m eating too many calories for my activity level?
