Goat Lake (pics)

On Saturday I hiked 11 miles through snow to get a picture of Goat Lake before it becomes inaccessible for the season. It's a long but easy hike. I've been there once before, in the summer, but there's fresh snow now, everything looks pristine and new.

Unfortunately I got a late start and only had a few minutes with my prize.

Yesterday I bought waterproof shoes, and then hiked 7 miles in them.

Your photos make me so happy I live in the PNW, but a little disappointed that I don't get out more... ;)
    Gorgeous shots.

Yep, that's the money shot. I knew the lake backed up to an impressive headwall, and that we'd had a bunch of snow lately. I was hoping it wouldn't be too much to prevent me from going (once the roads start closing it could be a 30+ mile hike), but enough to look good. And it worked beautifully!
