I'm a bit bummed. I've made good progress in the month or so Ive been working at this weight loss journey. I cut out most of my drinking, which I know contributed to a lot of my weight even if just the munchies I eat when I drink and the lack of exercise because, well I didnt want to.
Last night I figured I'd spoil myself, I bought a bottle of my favorite brandy. Just one I said.. Four shots, (I sip at them not toss them back, but I still managed to drink 4) and almost 800 calories of munchies later I went to bed wondering WTF I just did to myself... Munchies were Brocoli dipped in Edame Hummis, healthy but not in that high a quantity. Especially since I was already technically 200 calories over my goal..
Might be silly but I had to post somewhere and this seemed to fit.

Everyone has blips like that. Just shake it off. Back on track starting right now.
I can't speak personally to the alcohol, but if it seems to continue to be something you go through cycles of abstaining and overdoing, that might be something you need to deal with.
If you are being very restrictive in your diet, consider that the harder you make your plan, the more likely you are to fall off. But if your goals are realistic, you are fitting in some treats, and last night was just one of those things, chalk it up to being human.5 -
Agreed. Perhaps plan to enjoy one brandy once a week. Do a measured pour, and put the bottle away. Calculate it into your plan. Many days I have my dinner recorded before I even have lunch because I planned ahead for that meal.
Also, remember that it's your overall progress that matters. There are days I've gone over, even when I did maintenance a couple weeks ago. Yet, if you look at the weekly average, if you stay within your goal, or even just a little over if you are trying to lose, you are still making progress, and ultimately that's what matters.3 -
Thats my plan John, Once a week. Rest of the week the bottle stays in the cupboard. Measuring is the only way I can know what Im drinking. I literally use a shot glass so I know what to put in the app.
As for the rest of it, I have no intention of slowing down my diet plan. I am on a 1680 calorie a day plan, with additions for extra exercise. Once I have been doing this long enough to create the good habbits I will modify the MFP program to show me more active and see what it says. Right now, Im an accountant. I am in an office all day. I have an elevating desk so I can stand as much as I want, but that isnt really much better than sitting.
The only real exercise I get is the 1.5 to 3 mile walks I have been taking in the evenings since starting this trip. I track them with the companion app map my walk and I do that roughly 5 days a week, Fridays and Saturdays are hard because I have social gatherings I regularly go to; but I figure 5 out of 7 days is great anyway so I dont usually worry about it.0 -
There’s a significant weight loss learning curve. Do better next time. Keep working.1
