I need a good, relatively inexpensive and easy meal plan for my new lifestyle. I have 3 kids and not much time on my hands. If it helps at all, I'm starting Insanity. Not sure if that makes a difference or not....

, I don't know if insanity comes with one (I thought that it might???)
Are you restricted by anything? Allergies/vegetarian/ etc?0 -

Well, I don't exactly have the original Insanity dvd's. It's all on my computer, if that makes any sense... So I don't have the meal plan that would go with it. I'm not restricted by any allergies or vegetarian.0 -
Im not sure of the foods you like but typically I will have steel cut oats in the morning and I will get creative with it so I don't get bored. I will usually buy fruit from the farmers market and have it in the mornings as well. Lunch usually consists of 4oz of grilled chicken and maybe couscous or quinoa and at least one veggie and dinner is usually the same. I do a lot of recipe hunting on Instagram and youtube and some of my Faves are chicken with pesto and cheese baked, spaghetti squash is amazing, and Turkey burgers are a good alternative. If you can buy local produce it will save you a lot, plus it taste better. If you need anything recipe ideas you can message me for find me on instagram. @Getitb4_itsgone.0

My sister bought insanity last year, it does come with a food guide book. It has sections labeled meals 1 through 5 and you can pick 1 thing from each section. The nutrition info is place at the bottom of each recipe.0

We all have to tailor a plan that works for us. Some people cook a lot of food on the weekend to use for the week.
You have to enter all your foods for a few weeks and study how it all plays out, then adjust as necessary. We are all different in our food likes and dislikes. Try to stick to whole foods as much as possible.0 -
Great start! Choose foods you like tht way you will be losing and maintaing in the long run. Count cals then make substitutions if necessary. This is the reason mfp works, we all pick our favourite foods and aim to stay within daily bmr calories.
Obvious are fruits, veggies, also protein to keep you full chicken, fish, eggs, yogurt. Eat a variety so your body gets vitamins and minerals and you have lots of energy! Also. Lots of water.0 -
Eatingwell.com has great weekly meal plans. Very simple to follow and inexpensive. Check it out.0

I have young children too and I found I had the most most success on the weeks I prepared my food. I choose one day to prep food and cook certain thing like chicken in bulk, that way I could have it ready for many meals during the week. It is more expensive to eat according to the p90x diet guide I was using, but I found some affordable substitues. I am very frugal. link to diet plan I found that helped me.

The kids eat similar stuff and I just add kid friendly things for them. Food is more important that the workout in my opinion and it is true that your abs start in the kitchen.0 -
