Silly question.. but I've started walking again since having my second child.. does having my 8lb newborn on my chest while walking effect my calories burned much or at all?

There is an exercise in the database listed as "Walking, carrying infant or 15-lb load". When I did a calorie estimate for it, it said I burned 20 more calories in an hour than I would have with "Walking, 3.0 mph, mod. pace".0

Carrying an additional 8 lbs while walking will increase your energy expenditure by 2.4 cal for every mile walked (8 x .30) as it really comes down to moving a certain amount of mass over a given distance.0
