Hello. My name is Marcus and I am a 40 year old overweight man. I’ve been heavy most of my life but in the past 10 years I’ve picked up a lot of weight. I have decided to finally get serious about my health to be here for my kids and my girl. I’ve tried dieting and the gym and I lose interest/motivation after a month or so. I need help, tips, motivation, and to meet others on here and we can like help eachother.

MFP has helped me a lot. I was a solid almost 330 the first time i did MFP, today I'm down near 270. I fluctuate and I fail, but eating wise this always helps me. Tracking calories works. Fight the good fight. Find someone there to fight with you. Add friends on here and watch their progress. You got this man! Everyone always says "do it for you"...when I do it for me, the hershey bars for my belly taste amazing. When I do it for my kids and their future of having their dad, I fight. Fight!5

Hi Marcus. MFP is a good place to start. My name is Rae and I am a 70 year old diabetic woman and used MFP for a long .time to keep my weight and BG under control. I stopped about 2 years ago, and that was a mistake. I have come back to the fold because I found this was the easiest way to track food consumption and carbs. I can also track my excercise. I don't know why I ever stopped because my carbs have skyrocketed because I just wouldn't keep track of my intake. Just keep at it, and you will get where you need to be, and join in the forums for added support. We are here for you.1

Find family fun activities that will keep you all active for life.
Find foods you enjoy that meet your nutritional needs.
I set nutrition goals and fitness goals, rather than weightloss goals, but I also celebrate every five pounds lost. My new thing is to have a dance party with my husband.
Make your goals realistic. I started my yoga practice by committing to 10 minutes a day. I started my nutrition goals just to track everything. This gave me.a baseline to establish realistic goals going forward.1
