Stomach/Hips Exercises?

Hey everyone, can you suggest good exercises to help with losing weight off the stomach/hips area? I have 71lbs gone to date & do measurements monthly but it seems my stomach area/hips are VERY slowly jumping on this train with the rest of my body. I am losing inches everywhere else except these areas. My stomach area (through belly button area) has not budged since May so I am thinking that I need to change things up & add in some things that target those specific areas.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Squats are one of the best exercises you can use. However I fear that you're thinking that with ab exercises you will somehow spot reduce fat from your stomach. I am in the same boat where my overall body looks in shape but it feels like theres a giant football in ma belly. For that, you only have to work on your patience since for some folks belly fat is the last to go. Just a sad truth. Keep doing what you're doing (congrats on the loss btw. Its awesome!) and the belly fat will go away in time.
I do encourage you to lookup some strength training. Even heavy lifting. This will help you look more shapely. May I suggest looking into stronglifts? (google it, good program)0 -
Just keep doing what you're doing - it's genetics....my belly is always the last to go. I tend to lose weight off my fingers and ankles first
That being said, squats is always a good call0 -
I *just* asked my personal trainer this very question. He said he always has a little pooch around his middle (mind you he's seriously in shape and has 6-pack abs...) and it's always the last to go, and the first to come back if he gains weight. So he said to me that it could just be the last place I really lose weight. *pout* Some people apparently just lose weight in different places, first.
He also said to get rid of it, up my cardio, and eat lean. He says that fat's gonna come off where it wants to, when your overall body fat goes down. So keep getting after it. We do heavy weights when I lift, though, and a lot of cardio-centric excercises like squats, burpees, etc, so that I gain muscle and burn fat more. I've stayed about the same weight lately, but I'm thinning down fairly well and I'm *FINALLY* starting to see the fat go from my hip/lower abdomen area. My tshirts are starting not to get bunched up over my muffin top...woo!!!
Now the key is to just continue ...... slow but steady wins the race, I guess.0 -
The best approach for fat loss is a better diet. It takes time, but you will lose the fat. You're doing very well for yourself, congratulations for the work you have done and have yet to do.0

Thanks everyone!! Just wanted to make sure I've covered all my bases. Everyone has told me they see the biggest chances in my shoulder area which is SO odd lol But I guess that is where its toning up first. Our bodies sure are weird. I just asked my husband if it was possible to be small everywhere else but have a big stomach/butt, guess I'll find out over the next year or so!0

Just in case you don't already know this - I've been told always hold your belly button in when doing any kind of exercise but especially abdominals. Chest out and stand tall at all times but especially when exercising to slim waist/stomach.
I've also heard rumours that a high sugar diet helps one store fat around the waist as does alcohol.
