New To Keto

Hi everyone I’m new to keto and really want to drop some pounds. I think I’m doing it wrong because one day I’ll be 179 and the next day I’m 185. I don’t eat a lot I do try my best to eat little or no carbs I just don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

Day to day weight fluctuations are common due to shifts in water weight. Ignore these. Maybe look for a weight trend app to smooth out the ups and downs.

How are you measuring your calorie intake? Weight loss is about maintaining a consistent calorie deficit. You can eliminate 100% of carbs and not lose weight if your calories are over goal. With keto some people don't need to measure portions, but many do. If you aren't measuring portions and logging calories....start there.

Yeah. Even though a lot of us do it, you can't really go by day to day weight bc it fluctuates all over the place. That's why a lot of people only weigh in once a week or month.
You should also start taking measurements. Those can give you a much better idea of what your body is doing than the number on the scale. Take those once a month or every other month.
Also, it's a good idea to track what you're eating at first. You may be surprised by how many carbs are in certain foods.

I just started Keto and intermittent fasting (IF) this past Monday. Are you researching the foods you eat to see how many carbs they have? I was very surprised to see how many carbs are in healthy foods, like fruits and veggies. I try and stay below 20g of carbs a day and have lost weight in this first week. Maybe your carb intake is still too high?

There are different kinds of carbs and lumping them all in one basket seems to risk missing out on the benefits associated with complex carbs such as are in veggies.

There is much known about the differences between complex , starchy and refined carbs that can be found easily online.
