How many calories are really in my bacon

So I eat two slices of bacon for 180 calories..
I cook mine in the oven and on a rack so the fat drips off.
I heard that the calories are including all the fat but I’m not eating that so I’m confused 🤷♀️

None.
Bacon is calorie free.
Thought everyone knew that.

Specifically what type of bacon? Strips like is common in the US or back bacon which is more common elsewhere?0
-
What does the package say? It should say either raw or cooked.2

I’m talking about strips.
I do eat back bacon as well cause it’s so low in calories but I prefer strips.
I believe it says raw.1 -

Weigh it raw. That's your calorie count.1 -
Or for example this one doesn’t say

Disagree. Raw bacon has a fair bit more calories than cooked bacon. This is the one time where the raw vs cooked does make a difference.11 -

If she were saving the fat and eating that, for example, cooking eggs in it, the raw calorie count would be the one to use.
But since she is blasphemously allowing the fat to drip off, raw is not the right entry to use.9 -

I was without my scale for 2.5 days. It was rough. Hated using measuring cups again.1 -

If the raw count is the one on the package. And it's the only one, that's what she should use. As that's what the OP said.MeganReid1991 wrote: »I’m talking about strips.

Bacon is the only food I weigh once cooked. I just look up what type it is on nutrition data and log the cooked entry3

Only if you're going to eat all the bacon drippings.
For strip bacon common in the U.S. that you've cooked in an oven on a rack, weigh after cooking and use this text string to find the database entry: Pork, cured, bacon, cooked, baked

Mmmm after reading this, I think I'm going to get up and have a crispy bacon sarnie and cup of tea. 8)1

Bacon can be delicious when gently fried with most of its fat not rendered out. Or, it can be marvelous on a sandwich brittle and without any fat left to render. And, all points between. Calories counting bacon is a mixture of art and science. And, these are not small differences since an oz of bacon fat has a lot of calories.0

Dang. I'd cry if my little tiny bacon slices were 190 calories for two.
I have to admit - I have never weighed a bacon slice ever. Bacon is a treat food for me. Once every six months I'll buy a pound of bacon, and that's mostly because I use the rendered fat for cooking my eggs every morning.4 -
Report: Two thick butcher slices 94g raw. Fried to chewy with a little translucent fat remaining = 41g. Some fat ended up on fried egg. Not very much.1

Do I bought bacon this weekend with the calories for cooked bacon and it says 190 for 2 slices of raw bacon or 60 calories for 2 slices cooked.
So this whole time I’ve been missing out on eating more bacon!!! Ugh the struggle lol1 -

That sounds more like what I have been logging for a decade: 2 slices/80 calories.
Are you sure it isn't by weight? Because 2 is 2...shouldn't be *that* different.0 -

Yup -- that one sounds right. Because a lot of that fat drips off, so unless you're using it in another recipe (or sopping it up with bread), you're really not eating all that much fat.1 -
I don't think this is right. I have been using the MFP confirmed item at 2 slices for 80 calories. But the USDA site has cooked at about 5 calories per gram which would be 200 calories for my two slices this morning.0

There's no way two standard strips of bacon cooked will come to 40g.
ETA: Mine come to about 12-15 grams so 60-75 calories cooked for two.
(again this is for standard strips)1 -
IMO there's just no way to be as accurate with bacon calories as skinless chicken calories, for instance. The calories can vary considerably depending on how it's cooked and how long it's cooked. I would pick a method that works for you, use it consistently, and if your weight is behaving as expected call it a win.5

More bacon is a win! Those numbers are in line with what I’ve used all these years of logging.

I don't think you can log bacon without weighing it. If kami's "standard bacon is 12g and my two weighed in this morning at 41g there is no way to estimate it.0

Going off the package is best. Her current one has the cooked weight so she's all good.
