I was wondering what macros ratio I should be using with hypothyroidism. Thank you!

I think you need to address your hypothyroidism first being that no macro split will really affect that directly. If you’re on exogenous thyroid, you technically don’t have hypo or the symptoms it brings. Are you on meds prescribed by your doctor?

I've been under treatment for hypothyroid for decades. Macros are the same. For weight loss, intaking fewer calories than you need for maintaining your current weight is all that is needed.

I tend to eat a little lower carb, but I have my macros set at the default setting of 50%C 30%F and 20%P, it's always been fine for me.

I'm pretty severely hypothyroid, have been for a couple of decades (most of that obese), well controlled with synthroid. I lost weight (and now maintain) fine targeting 0.6-0.8g protein minimum per pound of goal weight, fats 0.35-0.45g minimum per pound of goal weight, carbs fall where they may. That said, I don't think the MFP defaults are terrible for most people.

As long as your hypothyroid is well controlled, you can do whatever macros most satiate you. If your hypo isn't controlled, that requires help from your physician to get your meds right, not a special macro blend.

(Hypothyroid for 31 years, type 1 diabetic for 36.)

I have hypothyroidism as well, and have had it controlled for over a decade now through my doctor and Synthroid medication. I don't need any specific macros to address my medical issue. With that said, I have my macros set to 40% Carbs, 30% Protein, 30%Fat, but please don't use my numbers as a guideline - it's a personal preference. As the others have mentioned, getting your hypothyroidism under control via your doctor should be the first priority before diving into macros.

Hypothyroid since 2004 (not obese or overweight), treated and with steady and controlled thyroid values with Levothyroxin and Liothyronine. My macros by choice are 35% P and C and 30% F. and in maintenance for almost 9 years.

My doctor never told me that I needed to eat a specific way being hypothyroid or that by changing the ratio I would reverse, cure, or deal better with the problem. Only medication keeps my thyroid in check. If you have any questions or concerns between your thyroid condition and macros ratios, you should talk to your doctor or endocrinologist. Who ever is treating you. Good luck!

Diagnosed hypothyroid this year. My doctor did not advise me to change eat any particular macro ratio or do any special diet. I'm just supposed to take my medication as directed.
I use the MFP default macro recommendations.

I find avoiding foods that are inflammatory for me (gluten, lactose, refined carbs and sugar) helps with AI symptoms... within reason.

Thank you all for your advice!
For those who asked for a little background, I was diagnosed with acquired hypothyroidism about a year ago as a side effect from radiation treatment when I had cancer a couple years ago. I'm currently on 88mcg levothyroxine, but it's been a game of cat and mouse. Everytime I get the right dose, my thyroid tends to worsen and it will continue to be this way until my thyroid completely stops. This is inevitable due to the radiation so I guess I just need to be patient in the meantime.

Again, thank you all for your tips and personal experiences!
