Every year around this time I end up getting off track with diet and exercise and then find myself struggling to gain control for months after New Years. I’m already finding that all I want is gingerbread cookies and peppermint flavoured drinks. Anyone have any tips to stay focused during the holidays?

Christmas is one day. Two if you count Christmas Eve. Repeat this until it is firmly embedded in your mind.

If you have additional social activities outside the actual holiday, make it a point to bank a few calories earlier in the week to give yourself some wiggle room. Even then, practice moderation. The Christmas office party isn't worth blowing your eating plan up over. Honestly, how much do you even like those people? (Oh, wait, am I projecting again? )

Log everything and just remember your goal! I read that goals are more likely to be reached when you hold yourself accountable and evaluate everyday. That means, for me, logging every single gram of food and weighing myself everyday. Consistency will see you through, even though it’s the most indulgent time of the year it’s really no different to the rest of the year and all the other temptations that aren’t seasonal. Don’t deny yourself any of those holiday foods that make you happy! But eat within your calories and remember you’re playing the long game. I’m in this too and love love love food - wouldn’t be here otherwise! However we never want have to start this weight loss thing again ok? Keep going you’re doing so well. Happy holidays
