30, female and first goal of 100lbs to loose!

Hi all,

Just started what feels like an actual life change for once rather than another diet!

I have been going to aqua fit every day, and also doing at least 20 laps afterward (generally in 15 mins or so) I am starting some strength trainer next week on top of this cardio.

Of course, being at least 134lb overweight, food is also taking a big change. I have spent a week with my food target at 1500, and next week I am reducing it down to 1200. I am not sure if this will trigger my body to go into starvation mode or not?

I am also confused, say I eat 1500 cals, and do aqua which burns off 440 cals (for me), my total then reduces down to 1060, do I need to eat up again to get it back to 1500?

I am also very interested to link up with other people who have a large amount of weight to loose. they say this goes better with a support network.

thanks a lot all

Hi, I'm 31, will be 32 next month, I started out in April 2013 at 307, my biggest goal is to get down to 145ish, I have had my calorie intake set for 1200, I usually exercise 2-5 Times a week walking or low impact aerobics and sometimes some of both..... I have lost 38 lbs since April, and I still have a ways to go, I still need to lose another 110-125 lbs. Some day I eat the calories back that I burn off exercising some days I just leave them alone, and I drink lots and lots of water.......... hope this helps
  • Well you don't HAVE to eat back the calories that you worked so hard to burn. If you log everything you eat and exercise on MFP, it will automatically adjust your calories higher for you. Like if you burned 800 calories, it will add it on there that you can still eat. Personally, I wouldn't do that because you just tried to burn those calories. But, if you are eating 1200 and burn 800 then yes please eat the calories back because you need at least 1200 to be healthy and maybe a little more if you are active. Oh and eating 1200 will not go into starvation mode. Only if you go under it. I have 175 pounds to lose so I would love to connect with you :)
