I realize that when we start our CICO that most of the big early weight loss is water, sodium, etc.... Then after that is all done the real weight loss begins.
What was your biggest loss in weight starting your diet and over how many days did you loss that initial chunk of weight?

I've had huge losses the first week. But I'm very big. In 3 months I've lost 31 pounds, but I started at almost 300 and its very normal for someone more than twice their body weight to lose a lot very quickly at first.2

When I was starting in the 290s a few years ago I dropped 8 pounds the first week. I’ve been yoyoing a bit but I’m in the 250s now and from here I never lose more than 4 /week, even when I’m just starting after a long hiatus.

This needs to be put in context that when I started I was tipping the scales at 160kg (350lb).
When I started to manage my weight I dropped 2.5kg (5.5lb) in the first 3 days. By the end of the first week I'd lost a total of 4.4kg (9.7lb) and by the end of the second week was down a total of 6.7kg (14.7lb). On the 3rd week my weight 'bounced' and went up by about a 0.2kg (0.5lb).
From that point on I settled into an average loss of approx 1.5kg (3.3lb) per week for a while, then down to 1kg (2.2lb) average and now I'm consistently losing about 750g (1.6lb) per week. I expect that to drop down to a rate of about 500g (1.1lb) per week some time early in the new year as I get closer to my goal (2/3rds of the way there)3 -
At the very beginning I lost 3-4 lbs a week and that lasted several months. That was however when I was 260lbs and on a very stupid crash diet. I gained some of it back before starting MFP.
When I started MFP, I was about 220 (....maybe 225) and averaged 2.5lbs per week for almost 2 months. The rapid loss freaked me out. I had wanted to do it right this time and only aimed for 1lb per week. My first post about it people said it was just water weight, but when I continued to lose at that rate the recommendation was to increase my calories. I had to increase my intake to get it to slow down, but once I did that my weight loss started tapering to be on average about 1% body weight per week until I hit the healthy range. Now it’s just a very slow crawl, but I am reluctant to cut my calories so that I can actually reach that 1%. At this point it’s basically for vanity for me.
Since getting out of the obese range I don’t see large drops like that (even after maintenance breaks).0 -
I didn’t lose anything for the first 3 weeks or so. I did think my clothes began to feel a bit looser though.0
