Why is this time so hard?

I joined last March and was successful until around October. I lost forty pounds, then proceeded to gain ten. I don't understand why I can't get back on track.
I have been dieting off and on since I was 14. I know what to do. I can't explain why I feel this way. Everyday I wake up with great intentions. Sometimes I do pretty well for a few days... then I mess up. I am proud of myself that I am not binging but I just need to do this!!
Ok, I had to get that out there!!!
Anyone else having the same problems??

Yes...I have been on a diet most of my life, and the result is that now, I am fifty pounds overweight...Menopause absolutely killed me...It is not a myth that it is harder to lose weight the older that you get...People have ALWAYS told me that I needed to lose weight, even when I was thin...So sometimes it is really hard to believe I am now OBESE(OFFICEALLY FAT), and sometimes I just can't wrap my head around it...Although, I look in the mirror and it doesn't lie!!!...Maybe something similar has happened to you? Anyway, this is my story...Good luck getting back on track...Despite my "head" obstacles, I have lost ten pounds In a month...Not bad...But I lost twenty last year on WW and gained it all back...I am starting to understand that you have to think DIFFERENTLY about food...AND JOURNAL IT...It is not easy...It is something that you will have to do for the rest of your life...Good Luck!!!

You sound like a perfectionist to me ) You don't have to be perfect to lose weight. MFP is a tool, nothing more, it helps to hold you accountable for what you eat and serve as a guide to your weight loss. However, you have to listen to your body. If you have eaten all your calories for the day, but your body is still hungry, feed it - but feed it healthy. There is already a calorie deficit built in to MFP. If you exceed your daily recommended calories by a couple hundred here and there, you will still lose weight. You just may not lose it as fast as if you stuck to the plan MFP sets up for you. You're not "blowing it" by giving your body the nutrition it needs.
As for exercise, make sure you are setting realistic goals for yourself, so you are not setting yourself up for failure. If you don't have time in your day on a regular basis for an hour-long workout, then don't expect yourself to do one that takes that long. Pick a workout you can complete in 30 minutes and do it as many days of the week as you can manage. Don't beat yourself up if life gets in the way occasionally. There will be exams to study for, friends who need a helping hand, etc. Just workout when you can and be satisfied with the progress you are making, no matter how slow that may be. Good luck to you!0 -
Maybe working together in a small group or with even just one other friend on the weight loss goals would help? You can go power walking together, share recipes, do a weekly weigh in? Even joining WW for a while might help. Sometimes doing things alone can be really hard and that extra support from a group can really help. You're doing great! Keep going!0
