Squats and hamstring soreness

Question for the lifters out there: when I first started squats made my quads sore... Now after six months of increasing weight my hamstrings seem more sore. I think I'm doing them right and haven't changed much just increased weight very slowly
Any ideas why the pattern of post exercise soreness would change?

i don't know the answer, but think it's an interesting question! i can imagine why your quads are less sore, but can't quite put my finger on why your hammies would be instead.. are you doing more/heavier deadlifts in addition to your squatsl? those things kill my hamstrings.

either way, here's a fun little image of different squat positions and the muscles it uses:

I started squatting 3-4 months ago and the pain in the morning especially was almost unbearable. My thighs and legs hurt so badly. I actually started increasing my squats and as those muscles got used to the exercise, the pain went away. I have no idea why your muscles ache. Are you doing variations on the types of squats? That's the only thing that I can think of.
