Christmas

Who else is struggling with temptation over the Christmas period? I'm not going to lie I've had a few naughty days but I'm sticking on in there! How do you beat temptation? I've been keeping a track of my weight but also my measurements so I can see the physical weight loss even if I've only lost a pound, that reinforces that it's worth it 👍💪

I don't know how I did it..but I stopped the temptation train right after Thanksgiving. I could tell I was on the slippery slope and good! What is keeping me in line is knowing that I started my weight loss journey on December 28th last year. I lost all my weight and have enjoyed the heck out of it! Why in the world would I regain a chunk of weight right before my one year anniversary? I thought on what a failure I'd fee like.. and it has gotten me back to a good place.. thank goodness!
I did a few things.. I bought a full length mirror and put it by my door so I can see myself everyday.. and I put a picture of me on vacation on my computer home screen to remind me of how great it was to look like myself again in photos.. no piece of gingerbread is with giving that up. I'm also focusing on New Year's Eve... I remember last year feeling fat and thinking.. "just think, next year at this time I'll be thin." and this year I will be.

I don't bother. Christmas involved lots of family dinners within a two week period and lots of cookies and cake plus no cooking stuff for myself.

    - I take a break from dieting during that time. I allow myself a tiny amount of surplus, nothing that I can't re-lose within a couple of weeks.
    - I pick and choose during dinners and eat only my most favorite items.
    - As for cookies and other sweets, I decide that I'm allowed no more than 300 calories of them a day, then pick whatever feels most worth the calorie on any given day.
    - Since most leftovers are very calorie dense, I pre-prepare less calorie dense items to balance them out. For example, I make a bunch of boiled eggs, stock up on bread and yogurt (sandwiches are filling to me), instant noodles, tuna...etc and make sure to have at least one low calorie but filling meal a day.

This time of the year is a time where I let go of most stress and just enjoy. I love the holidays and I'm not going to let diet rigidity get in the way of enjoying them.
