Do exercise you enjoy; that will help you be more consistent. Exercise for the health benefits. Any exercise touting something along the lines of "spot reduction" is a myth. Where you will lose the weight from is largely genetic.
You lose weight thru a consistent calorie deficit. It's far easier to manage a consistent deficit by eating less. Exercise doesn't burn near as many calories as most people think. Cardio for heart and lungs, strength training for hanging onto more lean muscle as you lose weight.1 -
Isn't Tracy Anderson that one who works with Gwyneth Paltrow and company? She says women should only work with very light weights? I haven't looked at her program, because it makes no sense to me. I'm not familiar with the other one either, but exercise is good for fitness. Find something you enjoy, or is the least objectionable if you don't enjoy any activities. I find kickboxing and swimming to be enjoyable and excellent workouts.
For weight loss, the biggest driving factor will be the calories you consume. When you set up your account here, it should have given you a target. Aim for that consistently (plus 50-75% of your exercise calories) for several weeks and use that information to re-evaluate if you need to adjust. Have realistic goals. If you have 10lbs to lose, 2 lbs/week loss is too aggressive.2
