I did but don't anymore. That said I still eat lower carbs as carbs and sugar tend to have lots of calories. If you are doing keto, I would still recommend you weigh and tack all of your calories. I found I can actually gain weight doing keto if I eat too much. But I do prefer keeping away from the carbs.

I’ve been doing keto for a few months and I really like it. I just feel better! No afternoon sleepiness, I wake up better, sleep better at night. If you can combine with exercise it resulted in faster weight loss for me but I’d also add more carbs before working out or I’d feel like my legs were made of lead and lightheaded. I also don’t get hungry or crave things anymore. Really makes my family crazy because I forget that it’s a mealtime.

Make a list of snacks you can use to balance out your macros. I struggled to get protein in so I keep a bag of baked pork rinds handy for a snack. Don’t forget veggies!! Green and leafy is your friend. You can always balance some of the veggie carbs with butter or cheese topping.

I don't stress over am I actually in ketosis or not. I aim to be about 50g of carbs but don't log macros or calories. I tend to drift in and out of ketosis and have been getting good results with this WOE.

If you look in MFP's groups you'll find the Low Carber Daily and Keto groups. You'll find many in there doing Keto.

I've been Keto for a few years. It works well for me.

My tip is to eat a LOT of salt to avoid the "Keto flu" which is actually an electrolyte imbalance. Most ketoers need at least 3000-5000 mg of sodium a day in order to avoid low sodium symptoms like headache, fatigue, nausea, moodiness, brain fog, muscle aches and spasms.
    2300mg sodium = 1 tsp salt.

Low Carber Daily is a great group, anyone who wants support for keto or low carb should join.

@Kellylinton831 I have been keeping my carbs down to around 50 grams daily for over 4 years now but do not really track anything. I am 67 and can never be sure when I may forget how to count so I did not ever start.

Best of success. Other than the 50 gram daily carb thing you can do keto many different ways. It is giving me back my health and great way of life so I plan to do it until I am at least 110. Do not get caught up in trying to copy others because your body will lead you to do keto in a way that works best for you from my personal experience being full time keto for over 4 years.

Carbs are lower in calories than fat (4 calories per gram vs 9 calories per gram). I have a carb heavy woe but haven't found the calories in the carbs food I eat to be an issue (beans, grains, veggies and fruit mostly)? I do have to be careful with things like butter, oil and full fat dairy though, since they're calorie bombs for me :p

Agree that both carbs and protein have the 4 calories per gram. And fat has the 9 calories per gram. That is why for me I do low carb, but not KETO. Because from what I have read on KETO universally it is low carb, high fat, medium protein for most. Where I keep both my carbs and fat right around 50 grams per day. And my protein about 80. Before figuring in for exercise. So for most of my low carb cookies, instead of making with full cream cheese I choose to make with the Neufchatel which is 1/3rd less calories and fat. I feel for me staying medium with fat is what makes it all work better.

calories bombs can be different sizes.

butter, oil and full fat dairy have a place in any meal plan. the trick is to choose a smaller portion, or, to eat them less frequently.

What is considered Low Carb vs Keto? I'm planning to do a 6 week low carb test in January as a follow-up to my 6 month CICO diet I've been on in which I've averaged 1,740 calories per day. I plan on keeping my calories at the same level (and keeping track), but lowering Carbs and see what the result will be. It's unlikely I'll stay low carb forever, but just want to try something new. But who knows, I might like it.

Would low carb be 100g or less? That might be something I could accomplish. I don't think I'd want to do Keto or decrease carbs dramatically.

I've heard some people define low carb as under 150g carbs, but mostly as under 100g carbs.

It seems people doing keto are below 50g, and some below 20g (but I think that might depend if they are counting total carbs or net carbs).

I don't do either, so just going by what I've seen here on the forums. Good luck!

    That sounds right, generally speaking.

There is a bit of wigle room in there, especially if you are very active and time carbs around exercise. I've known people who stayed in ketosis even though they were eating well over a hundred grams of carbs,
