No, I injected it..(student RN...not paying $80 for it..) because I was worried I might be low (vegetarian) and my B12 level is insanely high. You need intrinsic factor for it to be absorbed. Might need to get some serology and diagnostic done.

Mine was normal recently (checked before getting my shot that day), but my provider left the directive for shots open and told me to just come in when I felt like I need it. Maybe check and see if yours will do that.

Depending on how low your level gets, pills might not be able to bring you to the level you need to be at.

I doubt you're already deficient if you tested normal two months ago. Takes a long time, years even, to become deficient. Ask your doc for a blood test if you think you're experiencing symptoms related to B12 deficiency.

My B-12 problem is hereditary. My father landed in the hospital thinking he was going to die, but he really only had very low B-12. His hemotologist told me that my father was not absorbing B-12 and that is a hereditary thing and it would likely happen as I got older. I was pretty sure I was low by the way I was feeling, had the blood test and it was very low. 4 weeks of shots, now I only have to go monthly.
