From 2012 to 2016 declined steadily from congenital heart issue. April 2016 had my Aortic Valve replaced. Came back to MFP then and promised myself I would be healthier. Had 3 minor strokes (thankfully in parts of the brain that control very little, I got lucky in that respect) the last stroke was April of 2017. After figuring out the reason for the strokes I have now been cleared to resume normal exercise programs etc... in 2010 I had lost 90 lbs here and hope to do the same again. The support last go-round was awesome. No doubt it will be again. I'm 56, The name is Jim and I'm ready to roll.

Go to the "Getting Started" board. The very first pinned thread is "Adopt a Noob" (entry to paired threads for linking potential mentors and mentees.) Read the opening post on how to contact a potential mentor, then take a look at the mentor profiles . When you find a good match of description of what one is offering / what you are willing / able to do, follow the guidelines to make contact.

(BTW, I am NOT in the Mentor program, so don't look for me ... but I have made it a bit of a mission to point people who are just starting towards this thread)

How are you weak? You sound like a tough guy. You beat the things that kill a lot of people.

Eat the foods you like but not too much. Add in some form of movement. I love hiking and biking. Find something you love and do this every day.

I lose weight easily but tend to lose the drive to stay the course. Weak may not be the right term... soft-willed.

Track your calories, don't worry about numbers. Do this for a couple of weeks. See if can make any small changes. You don't need to slash your calorie intake, just cut back here and there. Read the stickies at the top. The Sexy Pants one is a good place to start. >> https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1080242/a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants/p1
