    What aspect of it do you find nerving? Descending is really about building confidence and also in. Confidence and trust in the equipment. The. Best way to get better is to do repeats on a section of road also learn to look as far as ahead as possible so you have plenty of time to plan your braking entry and exit of a corner. Do not look at the front wheel look where you want to go relax and enjoy. Also don't look at the rock on the side of the road or it be like a magnet and pull you in

    Disconnect your brake cables.
    <Joking!>

    Did you try any of the suggestions from your last thread on this issue? What was the outcome?

    Is it cornering?
    Is it just the speed and fear affects you even on a straight downhill with good sight lines?
    Is it knowing the extended braking distance you need is longer than you can see to be clear?

    (The last one is more like understandable and sensible caution IMHO.)

    Oh man. I used to jump out of airplanes every weekend. I'd far rather do that than go fast downhill on a bike. Yesterday I was in my car descending a steep winding hill and a bike was in front of me. He was going 30MPH and it was nearly dark.

    Even that was too scary for me. All I could think of was him @ss over teakettle and me running him over or him careening off the road and down the edge to the river.

    All that to say...I got nothing.

    Except maybe take up something safer like skydiving (?)

    You relax. The more you stress the more it'll bother you. Also, from your last thread I think I remeber you are riding with others. You will be dangerous to everyone pushing beyond your abilities. It'll come - just chill :)

    I'm no biking expert, but anything I want to do--I do gradually. Start downhill on gradual inclines, then a little steeper, then a little steeper... Go slow at first, then slowly up your pace. If you find yourself still nervous then you may have to give in and stay on the flats--move to Nebraska.
