Cooked soup: something seems to be off calorie wise

I cooked a Moroccan meatball soup today, and something feels off. I cooked it for four days, thus am eating 1/4 of the dish now - and it feels so much while it's just 500kcal. I don't think I can finish the meal and have the feeling something is very off on my calorie counting, but I can't really figure out what. Anyone want to look?

The first entry is lean beef/pork mince. I've taken some fat off as I found about 40gr fluid in the dish after ovenbaking the meatballs. I doubt all of that was fat though.

There are a few items I don't recognize, but the ones I do know look fine (although I could have sworn 1 tbsp of cinnamon was 20 kcal, but that's hardly a major error even if my memory isn't faulty!)
Soup can be extremely high in volume while remaining, thankfully, very low in calories. I recently made a tomato soup that I can eat about 500mL of for only 250 calories. Embrace the soup!0 -
Thanks a lot. I looked through everything again and all seems fine. Regarding cinnamon and cumin: oops, typo. It's teaspoon, not tablespoon. I ended up with very strange numbers and changed it to tbsp instead of tsp *sigh* Now I can't edit it anymore.
I'd done this soup before but my meal stored here had a lot of 'premium' entries and I can't see what they are/were originally. It looked like I used less ingredients last time.
Guess you are right: soup can be extremely filling. And extremely yummy1 -
That’s why broth based soups are such a great choice for calorie management! Cream based soups can be surprisingly high in cals because of cream, butter, and thickeners0
-
Honestly, 500 cal seems pretty high for an amount of broth-based soup consumed in one sitting. That must either be what I would consider a serving bowl of soup or have a very high solids-to-liquid ratio, i.e. more stew than soup.0

I make soups and some do have small amount of sour cream and on average they work out to 250 - 300 calories per 500 ml.0

You removed 20 g of fat (the negative fat entry) to account for fat cooked out of beef/pork mince meatballs that only had 12 grams of fat to begin with, so you're underestimating the per serving calories by at least 27 calories (12 g of fat that couldn't possibly need to be subtracted, distributed across 4 servings), and probably a lot more, as I seriously doubt all the fat that was in the meat to start with cooked out during baking.2 -
Thanks. I don't know what came out of the mince. The lamb mince was from my local farmers market and contained a lot more fat than 12%. It looked like the butcher made mince out of lesser cuts. But yeah, nobody can really say how much calories were in those 318gr of lamb mince. But even if 12% was correct: 418gr of various mince and 12% still gives me 48gr of fat. and the mince balls are very dry now (the very lean, almost game-y taste goes well with such a rustic soup). So I think I was rather conservative.0

You missed the "lamb mince" ingredient towards the bottom.0 -

Sorry, @yirara -- as @Susieq_1994 pointed out, I missed the lamb mince -- I was thinking the meatballs were just made from the beef/pork mince. That's a fair amount of meat for 4 bowls of soup, which explains why it's higher than what I would expect from a broth-based soup, but 500 cals still doesn't seem too low.1 -

Hey Lynn, no problem. I wasn't quite awake this morning either
I'd expected more calories because of the mince (meh, I bought too little lamb from the market and mixed in a bit of the other one), beans, lentils and couscous. It's a very loaded soup, but oh so delicious1
