Hi All! Hope everyone had a great christmas! I got a fitbit for christmas! I havent taken it out of the box yet, and besides the basic things about them and what they do like tracking steps and heart rates or that you can link them to stuff and do challenges, I dont know alot about them, so am wondering if you can tell me what you love about your fitbit, some of the cool features they have or most importantly how they have helped your fitness journey! :)

I love my Fitbit Alta :) It's an older model, I got it off Ebay for $30 but it does everything I need it to. I find it really motivating - I have a desk job and if I'm sitting too long it will vibrate and remind me to take a quick walk around the building. I really like the feature that tracks my sleep - I was skeptical, but to my surprise it's 100% accurate. It's helping me take charge of my sleep schedule, which really makes a difference. Also I have it set to silent alarm too, so it wakes me up by vibrating at 6:30. And the way I use it, there's a little pixel flower that grows from a seed to a bloom when I'm getting a lot of exercise!
I like it enough that I'm actually thinking about upgrading to a better model if it gives up the ghost. Seeing as I got it for $30 I'm not expecting it to last forever!

Not sure which model you have. I used to have a Flex 2. It was pretty basic. Step counting and simple sleep tracking. I also used it as my alarm. The buzzing on my wrist is so much more pleasant than the shrieking alarm. I did some of the challenges where you choose a location and it follows you along with scenic shots at certain checkpoints. Those were cool.
Just got the Versa for Christmas. It still does the step counting, etc. The sleep tracking is a lot more detailed because it has a heart rate monitor. I find the sleep tracking stuff super interesting. It also links to apps like Strava and Pandora which is great for exercising and tracks several different exercises. Still using it as my alarm. It also has timers, which I haven't used yet but probably will for some of my training runs.
Overall, I have really enjoyed having a fitbit. I find it keeps me accountable and I think the sleep info is super interesting. I missed having a watch with the Flex 2, so the versa ended up being more what I am needing now.
